Donegal saw off Roscommon in Dr. Hyde Park in today’s first Super 8’s clash by a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-20.
Dr. Hyde Park played host to Donegal and Roscommon in today’s first Super 8’s clash as each side looked to banish the memories of the losses they sustained in their last outing.
The Rossies came up short against Tyrone last week while Donegal tasted defeat at the hands of Dublin.
Throw-in at the Roscommon venue was at 5pm.
The sides exchanged points in the early goings, with Brian Stack coming through with an especially fantastic effort. Roscommon led 0-3 to 0-2 after eight minutes and retained the lead thanks to an absolutely fantastic save from keeper Colm Lavin.
Things remained relatively even for a while until Donegal began to mount the pressure towards the game’s intermission. Going into the break the score stood at 0-5 to 0-10 in favour of Declan Bonner’s side.
As the second-half began, both sides registered in the opening exchanges but again it was Donegal who managed to push ahead, putting themselves seven points clear about halfway through the second stanza.
With five minutes left to go, a six-point gap separated the sides but despite their pressure, it was to be in vain.
In the end it was Donegal who came through winning the game on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-20.
