Conor McManus scored an absolutely beautiful point in the final minutes of his Monaghan side’s 1-18 to 1-16 victory over Tyrone that had nearly everyone in attendance at Healy Park on their feet.
Monaghan recorded an important win over Ulster Senior Football Championship holders Tyrone yesterday to book themselves into a semi-final against Fermanagh and while there were several talking-points that emerged from the tightly-contested affair, corner-forward Conor McManus may well have had the best of them.
The 31-year-old proved his class on the big stage once against by taking home 0-06 on the day, but in his final offering to the game’s scoreline in the match’s dying embers, he scored a point had virtually every jaw present on the floor.
It was well and truly Monaghan’s day and with that latest setback, it’ll be back to the drawing board for Mickey Harte’s Tyrone.
