Cork Fans Urged To Not Fly Confederate Flags At Croke Park

Cork hurling fans are among the most colourful in the game. The Rebels often bring bumper crowds to Semple Stadium, Croke Park, and indeed anywhere else they may travel to.

One trademark of the Rebel support is that they bring all sorts of flags to brighten up the occasion.

A frequent sight at Cork games is a Japan flag flying the terrace, or indeed a confederate flag.

However, due to the events in Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend, there is added controversy surrounding the banner.

There have been widespread calls for Cork fans to acknowledge what the flag represents, and not to fly them at Croke Park today for the All-Ireland semi-final.
