Troy Parrott shirt sales rocket at AZ Alkmaar after goalscoring heroics

AZ Alkmaar have been churning out Troy Parrott shirts from their club shop after seeing a huge spike in sales.

The striker has seen his popularity grow exponentially after his goalscoring heroics for Ireland gave them a chance of qualifying for the World Cup against all the odds.

Parrott also continues to see his name in the headlines in Holland, where he has scored 19 goals in 19 games for his club.

AZ Alkmaar often fall under the radar of PSV Eindhoven, Ajax and Feyenoord as Eredivisie’s top clubs, but Parrott’s goalscoring contributions are seemingly boosting the club’s global popularity.

AZ Alkmaar see huge increase in Troy Parrott shirt sales

According to staff members inside the club shop, they have seen a huge spike in shirt sales coming from Ireland.

Speaking to the Irish Times, one staff member said: “Normally we get three or four orders from Ireland, but since the match last week we are getting 50 to 60 a day – just from Ireland.

“He’s a striker, so shirts with Parrott on the back, with all the goals he’s been scoring here, he was the most popular shirt anyway. But now it’s growing.”

Troy Parrott has eclipsed Evan Ferguson on the big stage to become Ireland’s main man in recent weeks.

The 23-year-old is back in action on Thursday and will be given a warm welcome from the travelling Irish supporters with his side hosting Shelbourne in the Conference League.

Some familiar faces will also be in attendance, with Parrott’s family set to make the trip.

Both sides need a victory to bolster their qualification hopes. AZ Alkmaar have three points after three matches, while Shelbourne have drawn once and lost two.

Troy Parrott transfer interest in England

Parrott’s goalscoring form has inevitably seen him linked with a return to the Premier League, five years after making his last appearance in the top flight.

Troy Parrott could be inundated with transfer interest when the market opens in January with Premier league side Leeds among those weighing up offers..

There’s also been tenuous links with Everton, with Beto and Thierno Barry struggling to score in the Toffees’ frontline.

AZ Alkmaar’s bank balance is likely to earn a substantial boost once they decide to sell their main man.

Signed for around €8million from Tottenham, reports in Holland suggest they will hold out for an offer around €31m.

Given Parrott’s age and his contract situation, where he is tied down until 2029, means they can drive a hard bargain.
