Is This The Worst Howler Ever?

Argentinian football doesn’t make the headlines too often, but on this occasion it is not to promote the promising young stars emerging from the country’s Prim B Metro division.

In a game between Comunicaciones and Atlanta on Wednesday, goalkeeper Rodrigo Cervetti had an absolute nightmare between the sticks, conceding five goals as Atlanta swept their opponents aside, but it’s the first goal that has many claiming Cervetti was paid to throw the game.

After collecting the ball, Cervetti inexplicably swung the ball into his own net to gift Atlanta the lead in a supposed attempt to instigate a throw to one of his team-mates.

God knows what the player was thinking, but we certainly wouldn’t envy his long walk to the dressing room after this howler…
