Barcelona salvaged a 1-1 draw in Stamford Bridge tonight in their Champions League last 16 tie against Chelsea, after an enthralling clash at the London venue.
Lionel Messi’s search for a goal against the Pensioners reached its ninth game, after the Argentinian star had failed to find the net on the eight previous occasions. However, he wasn’t to be denied again, as the La Liga leaders capitalised on some elementary errors in the Chelsea defence to carve them open.

This cancelled out an earlier strike from the impressive Willian. The Brazilian star was the driving force for Chelsea throughout the game, hitting either post with two first-half strikes. However, perseverance paid off as it was a case of third time lucky, as he found the bottom corner with a well-taken finish after the break.

As the game wore on after Messi’s equaliser, it was the home side who pushed on looking for the winner, despite enjoying limited possession in the game up to that point.
The tie is perfectly poised ahead of the return leg at the Nou Camp.
