Widespread Sympathy For Daniel Sturridge As Striker Limps Off After Just Three Minutes

While the internet, and Twitter in particular, can be a cruel place for Premier League footballers, there was an outpouring of sympathy for Daniel Sturridge as the Englishman suffered yet another injury.

Lining out for West Brom, where is currently on loan, against Chelsea on Monday Night Football, there were only three minutes gone when the Liverpool-owned man had to leave proceedings.

With Chelsea leading 1-0 at the interval thanks to an Edin Hazard goal, the big talking point more bad luck for the injury-ravaged 28-year-old.

Playing against his former club, the injury occurred after an innocuous challenge with Cesar Azpilicueta.

Playing with West Brom until the end of the season, a run of goals may see him in the picture for a spot in England’s World Cup squad. Alas, this is another set-back for the 26-times capped international as he bids to get back to top form.

There was widespread sympathy for Sturridge as he departed Stamford Bridge:

While some others weren’t as sympathetic to him, the overall consensus is that people want to see Sturridge back fit and healthy – and back to the kind of form that saw him get signed by both Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

For West Brom, they took a risk in bringing in someone so injury prone as they bid for Premier League survival. So far, this move has backfired.
