Watch: West Ham Boss Slaven Bilic Was In No Mood To Talk About Dimitri Payet On Saturday

West Ham recorded a much-needed victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday, but Dimitri Payet continued to dominate the conversation.

The French international has effectively gone on strike in order to force a move away from the London Stadium, and it seems almost certain that he has played his last game for the club.

That said, the Hammers did not miss Payet on Saturday, taking Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace apart 3-0 thanks in part to a spectacular overhead kick from Andy Carroll.

At his post-match press conference, Bilic was eager to talk about the performance of his side rather than waste time talking about a player that did not feature against Palace and has no interest in doing so again, and made that very clear when a question about Payet was put to him (NSFW language):

Bilic said:

“Ask the chairman [about Payet]. I’m not there to close the door or open the door.

“Let’s talk about Andy Carroll, let’s talk about [Darren] Randolph, let’s talk about Mark Noble, for f**k’s sake, sorry, they deserve for us to talk for hours about them. That goal deserves to be spoken about for ages.”

Marseille, the club that sold Payet to West Ham for £10.7m in 2015, have had one bid of around £19m for the 30-year-old but further talks are planned for this week.

With the forward determined to leave the club in this transfer window it seems highly unlikely that West Ham fans will see him in competitive action as one of their own again.

Not that they seem to mind that (yet more NSFW language)…
