Watch: UEFA Video Finally Explains How Ireland Will Have Two Chances To Qualify For Euro 2020

After a fantastic World Cup qualifying campaign, Irish fans were left heartbroken last Tuesday night after a nightmarish performance against Denmark saw their dreams of Russia 2018 ending in calamity.

The damage that the 5-1 defeat will have on the Irish setup going forward is hard to fully assess at this point in time. However, there are reasons to be optimistic with Ireland already looking towards Euro 2020 – a campaign that will begin in September of 2018.

The official qualifiers don’t actually commence until March of the following year, however, with UEFA looking to rid the world of lifeless friendlies, a second route to qualification was recently announced with UEFA launching the ‘Nations League’.

Although the new format had been explained in some detail, fans were still struggling to understand exactly how the new competition would work. As a result, UEFA have released an excellent short video breaking it all down.
