The phenomenon of footballers starring in bizarre advertisements is nothing new, and three Arsenal stars have added another one to the list.
As part of their association with car rental giants Europcar, Gunners forwards Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck – along with goalkeeper Petr Čech – have showcased their acting skills in a new advert promoting the service.
The caption for the advert sets the scene in advance – and also explains why the three are driving around in their match kit:
“Arsenal’s Petr Cech, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott take dedication to the next level when they accidentally drive to a game a mere six hours early.”
To pass the time, Walcott poses his teammates a question from the pages of OK! magazine, leading to a surprising revelation about Čech.
Welbeck, meanwhile, absolutely nails his performance…
The story is set to continue this coming Thursday, which Europcar claim will include “tyrannosaurs, goat emojis and unrequested drum solos.” So it’s about to get a lot more bizarre…
Amazingly, this isn’t even the weirdest Europcar advert that Arsenal have been involved in. Who could forget this terrifying CGI-filled effort from 2014 starring Per Mertesacker, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain?
Oh, and in case you were wondering (and you definitely were), Petr “Beyoncé” Čech celebrates his birthday on May 20th. So don’t forget it.
