Shane Long has managed just three goals this season but his searing pace and admirable work-rate often make up for his struggles in front of goal.
The Tipperary man is now officially the Premier League’s fastest player after he clocked up a phenomenal 35.31 km/h sprint against Watford back in August. He latched on to a through ball that he had no right to get to and was subsequently dragged down by Ben Watson. The midfielder was duly dismissed by referee Roger East having been deemed to have prevented a goalscoring opportunity.

Long found his third goal of the campaign on Wednesday with his pace once again allowing him to join a Saints counter-attack before smashing home the winner to send his side to the EFL Cup, knocking out Liverpool in the process.
