Celtic captain Scott Brown proved on Sunday he’s able to take it as much as he may at times give it out.
The Scotland international has become renowned for tough tackling and playing to the very limits of the game, however he showed this weekend, in an ugly four or five seconds of football during a heated clash with the Dons, that he’s made from stern stuff after a number of lunging tackles went in on the former Hibernian man.
It was Brown’s reaction to the incident which has, however, caught the imagination since with the midfielder rising to his feet following a couple of heavy tackles before smiling at the crowd and tensing his arms.
This kind of behaviour is more likely to be seen in a junior hurling match somewhere, but Brown pulled it off superbly.
With seven yellow cards and two reds throughout the match, including debutant Sam Cosgrove getting sent off for the above tackle, this was obviously just a microscosm of what went on during the 90 minutes.
While Michael Lustig seeing red also is far from ideal for the Hoops, the 2-0 win over third-placed Aberdeen is just another step on their way to what’s shaping up to be another league title.
