Watch: Schalke Fire Shots At Arsenal In Breel Embolo Welcome Video

LILLE, FRANCE - JUNE 19: Breel Embolo of Switzerland and Laurent Koscielny of France compete for the ball during the UEFA EURO 2016 Group A match between Switzerland and France at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on June 19, 2016 in Lille, France. (Photo by Clive Mason/Getty Images)

Schalke were perhaps the dark horses in the race for Breel Embolo’s signature this summer considering some of Europe’s biggest names were supposedly after him, and the Royal Blues have certainly done their upmost to make this fact known.

Not content with announcing his arrival from Basel, which is likely to have cost the club upwards of €20 million, the Bundesliga side went the extra mile by crossing out all the teams his name had been placed beside at the beginning of the summer in their welcome video, including Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United.

Whatever about Schalke’s need to gloat, they do appear to have landed themselves a future star. His performances for Switzerland at this summer’s Euros may not have set the world alight but at 19 years of age the striker has already achieved plenty in the game, at club level at least, for such a young man.

Last term he netted ten goals in just 27 Super League games along with two in the Europa League. And with 90 appearances in total for Basel under his belt, he will go to Germany with plenty of knowledge of what it takes to play first team football.

Expect the Gelsenkirchen-based club to make a tidy profit should they decide to sell in the future too.
