Paul Pogba left Dimitri Payet chasing shadows.
Although Paul Pogba’s second coming may have gotten off to a slow start, the French international has begun to showcase his talents in recent weeks.
Indeed, Jose Mourinho has only recently started to employ a system that has Pogba at it’s heart and leaves Wayne Rooney on the bench. While it may not be perfectly aligned as of yet, the building blocks are certainly evident, particularly with Ander Herrera deployed as the Frenchman’s foil in midfield.
Nevertheless, this week sees Pogba leave Manchester behind and link up with the French squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and the Netherlands.
Although France may have failed to lift the Henri Delaunay Trophy at the European Championships last summer, they possess a squad that is both young and packed with quality.
With players such as Antoine Griezmann, Dimitri Payet, N’Golo Kanté, Laurent Koscielny and Raphaël Varane at their disposal, France are among the favourites to lift the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Competition for places is no doubt intense, as is the skills on show at training. Just have a look at how Pogba destroyed Payet with this sick backheel yesterday.
