Barcelona striker Neymar almost scored an exquisite free-kick on Saturday afternoon versus Sevilla, only for some sort of supernatural power to stop the ball actually crossing the line.
With the game eventually finishing up at 2-1 in favour of Barca’s opponents, the free actually turned out to be quite an important one as it would have handed the Catalan’s a much-needed point near the top of the table, where they are currently third.
As the Brazil international stepped up, with the score at 0-0 and just over 20 minutes gone, most thought the ball had gone in or that it at least was going to trickle in.
Not on this occasion however, as whatever way the ball spun and even how the grass was laid all seemed to have transpired against Neymar.
The free-kick hit the post, hit the goalkeeper, hit the post again and somehow didn’t go straight in after this pinball sequence but instead rolled across the goal line and out with Gerard Pique failing to get a touch at the back post.
Watch Sevilla’s incredible luck and Neymar’s unbelievable misfortune below.
Barca’s result means they’re now open to being leapfrogged by Real Madrid, who play Atletico Madrid on Sunday, as well as the chance that they could fall further behind top side Villarreal, who play Levante on Sunday also.
