Watch: The Best And Most Controversial Moments From Jose Mourinho’s Unforgettable First League Cup Final

Manchester United take on Southampton in Wembley this Sunday as Jose Mourinho aims to win a trophy that’s always been close to his heart.

In his first season in England, The Special One lifted the League Cup trophy with Chelsea, beating Liverpool in one of the most entertaining finals in recent memory.

John Arne Riise rocketed home the opener less than a minute in. They stayed a goal up until the 79th minute when Steven Gerrard popped up with a comical own goal.

It was here that the moment that match will forever be remembered for arrived. Jose Mourinho, less than a year in England and already not particularly popular, ran down the touchline, shushing the Liverpool fans. He was subsequently sent to the stands for his action.

If Jurgen Klopp did it though, well that would just be good banter.

The sides went to extra time and Didier Drogba and Mateja Kezman fired in two quickfire goals to put the Blues firmly in the driving seat. Antoni Nunez pulled one back for the Merseyside club but it wasn’t enough and Jose tasted his first success in England.

Here’s hoping for similar entertainment on Sunday.
