In a move that will surely enhance his chances of being selected in England’s 23-man Euro 2016 squad, Marcus Rashford has scored just two minutes into his senior debut.
The 18 year old striker, who only started tonight’s friendly against Australia because Daniel Sturridge is carrying a knock, continued his fantastic run of form by hitting a well-taken finish past Mathew Ryan in the Australia goal.
18 – At 18 years and 208 days old, Marcus Rashford is the youngest player ever to score on his England debut. Dreams.

Even if Sturridge does recover in time for Tuesday’s finalisation of the squad, it now seems almost certain that the young Manchester United striker will be taken on the plane to France.
Naturally, Twitter has reacted to Rashford’s goal in astonishment and the wonderful season he is having, as well as calls for him to go to the Euros becoming that bit louder…

If Sturridge (never as good for England as for LFC IMO) is injured that could help Roy – the pressure to take Rashford will be enormé!

Somewhere in Portugal a pissed Louis van Gaal is explaining to a waiter that he’s the one who gave Rashford his debut.

Four weeks ago, Roy Hodgson said Marcus Rashford would definitely not be going to the Euros. Now he must be on the plane…
