Manchester United and Tottenham are both on pre-season tours of the United States as they look to fine tune their preparations for the upcoming season.
The latter are yet to delve into the transfer market to add to their squad but have seen £50 million come their way from Manchester City for right-back Kyle Walker. United, meanwhile, have recruited both Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof but Jose Mourinho has continually reiterated his desire to add further with most expecting a holding midfielder to be atop his wish list.
Spurs’ own Eric Dier has been heavily linked with move to Old Trafford in recent weeks but has continued to prepare for the start of the season with Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Last night, against French giants Paris Saint-Germain, Dier played a part in a 4-2 win for the North London side and capped his performance with a very unusual goal.
As the ball was played back to PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, the German proceeded to launch his clearance straight into Dier and it was rebounded back into the empty net.
The 23-year-old’s goal wasn’t the only memorable moment of the first half either. A few minutes previous, Christian Eriksen rifled home an absolute screamer to get his side back on level terms after Edinson Cavani’s early strike.
Spurs continue their tour of the US against Roma in Harrison’s Red Bull Arena on Tuesday.
