From Premier League outcasts to champions and back to outcasts, Leicester City has had a rollercoaster 12 months. Now, following the sacking of their saviour, Claudio Ranieri, they have found how to play again and are putting Liverpool to the sword.
For many fans of the beautiful game, the surprise sacking of Ranieri last week left a bitter taste in the mouth. The man who rescued a rabble of cast offs and journeymen and guided them to the summit of English football last season was cruelly jettisoned under rumours that those same players he saved, had revolted against him.
A week on from the shocking split, Leicester returned to the Premier League tonight and welcomed Liverpool to the King Power stadium. With many fans wearing Ranieri masks in apparent solidarity for the way the league winning manager was sacked, the team finally rekindled some of the form that brought them to the title last year.
Going into half-time 2-0 up against a Liverpool side pushing for their own taste of Premier League glory, many will wonder where Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater have been in recent months, only to pop up now and deliver two exquisite finishes.
Take a look. First up, Vardy to break the deadlock.

Into the second half Leicester continued with their Premier League winning form as Vardy further destroys Jurgen Klopp’s title ambitions by slamming home his second of the night.

Running out 3-1 winners, you have to wonder if Claudio Ranieri was watching the game tonight, just what he might be thinking about how his former team have finally found some form.
