With reports suggesting yesterday evening that Paul Pogba to Manchester United was a done deal, Jose Mourinho suggested today that the club is in fact considering three possible options to fill this role.
Speaking to the press during Manchester United’s preseason tour of China on Thursday afternoon, Mourinho was rather coy when speaking about the continued speculation linking Paul Pogba with a move to Old Trafford.
Although the former Chelsea boss did not confirm or deny the rumours, he did certainly suggest that negotiations are ongoing as he claimed that United are considering a number of options that fit ‘the profile’ they are searching for.
‘We are calm, we know what profile we want. We have three faces to fill that profile.’
Although many have suggested that the three potentials Mourinho mentioned are all French midfielders (Blaise Matuidi, Moussa Sissoko and the aforementioned Pogba), a breaking report in Spanish broadsheet El Confidencial has claimed that United are preparing a €65m offer for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.
According to the Spanish paper, Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward met with James’s agent Jorge Mendes on Monday and told him to expect a €65 million offer on Monday.
