Mamadou Sakho as we all know by now is no longer in Jürgen Klopp’s plans for first team action at Liverpool.
The 26-year-old has been completely frozen out of Klopp’s plans at Liverpool since a bust-up with the manager on a pre-season tour earlier this year.
It was reported at the time that he missed training, a team dinner and a flight. In turn, Klopp viewed this as disrespectful to him, his teammates and Liverpool as a whole.
In the German manager’s most recent interview, he stated that Sakho is no longer “in his plans” for the future, and that “nothing has changed” since last answering the same question.
However, Sakho has publicly responded to Klopp’s comments in his own way, via Instagram, while reinforcing to Liverpool fans that he is continuing to work hard at home, and with the current U-23 squad he has been resigned to.
While the current first team Liverpool squad are away on a team-bonding session in Barcelona, the French international is at home in his gym.
Arguably, the fact that he’s wearing Liverpool gear shows his desire to return to first team action and to stay at the club as the transfer window approaches.
Since the bust-up with Klopp, Sakho has been continuing to prove his worth for a first team place with Liverpool.
Certainly, the above video is not the first time he has taken to social media to highlight his work rate.
Undoubtedly, the process by which Klopp has dealt with the matter has divided opinion.
The Reds’ loss to Bournemouth at the weekend highlighted this further, with the 49-year-old opting to use an out-of-position Lucas Leiva as a temporary centre-back, instead of a fully fit Sakho.
One has to wonder if Sahko could have helped Liverpool defensively today. #lfc

I really hope I never have to watch Lucas play at centre back for Liverpool again.
