There were some extraordinary scenes in the Serie A on Sunday afternoon as Benevento’s goalkeeper scored a last-minute equaliser to earn his side their first point of the season.
Benevento currently sit rock bottom of the Serie A with the Italian side claiming just one point from 15 outings in the league this season. However, that point will forever be etched into the minds of both Benevento and AC Milan fans due to the extraordinary circumstances in which it was earned.
Taking on the mighty AC Milan on Sunday morning, Benevento found themselves 2-1 down in the dying minutes after goals from Giacoma Bonaventura and Nicola Kalinic.
However, after winning a free kick on the edge of the area with just seconds remaining, Benevento sent their keeper, Alberto Brignoli, into the area to support the attack. What happened next will surely be remembered by fans of the small Italian club for many years to come.
