After a massive win against Spurs in the Premier League over the weekend, Manchester United took on Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
It was the second clash between the two sides in the Champions League this season after United took the three points when they met in Lisbon two weeks ago.
On that occasion, it was a serious error from Benfica’s young goalkeeper Mile Svilar that separated the sides as the 18-year-old accidentally carried the ball over the line after a shot from Marcus Rashford.
However, if Svilar was hoping for a turn of fortunes on Tuesday evening, he will already be disappointed as another freak incident involving the young keeper saw Manchester United taking the lead vs the Portuguese side.
Picking up the ball about 30 yards from goal, Nemanja Matic unleashed a rocket of a shot towards the Benfica goal that Svilar seemed to have covered. However, after the ball cannoned off the upright, it rebounded off the back of the young goalkeeper and into the net.
