Well, that was an odd one…
With Manchester United’s hopes of finishing in the top four currently dead in the water, Jose Mourinho recently admitted that United were now playing Premier League fixtures that they had no interest in. Going by Eric Bailly’s behaviour in Wednesday evening’s clash with Southampton, that certainly appears to be the case.
Penalty Southampton. Pretty ludicrous handball by Bailly.

After a long ball was lofted up towards the Red Devils’ box, under little to no pressure, Bailly bizarrely jumped up and clearly controlled the ball with his arm. Mike Dean pointed to the spot and United fans were left wondering what had just happened.
However, replays soon showed that the handball had in fact taken place outside the box and that a freekick should actually have been awarded.
That handball by Bailly was clearly outside the box,but coz its against United the commentators were like "It's difficult for the ref" ???

Fortunately for the Manchester United centre back however, Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini stepped up to slot home the spotter but ended up releasing a pretty woeful effort for Sergio Romero to save.
Stupid handball by Bailly
Terrible by officials to give penalty.
Not great by Gabbiadini.
Well done Romero though.
