Watch: Dejan Lovren Horror Show Gifts Spurs Two Early Goals At Wembley

Liverpool’s defence has been called into question again after a horror show at the back gave Tottenham an early two-goal lead at Wembley.

With both sides buoyed by strong Champions League results in midweek, hopes were high in both dugouts

Spurs haven’t beaten Liverpool in their last nine attempts, but were given the perfect start after just four minutes. Poor positioning from Dejan Lovren allowed Harry Kane to ghost in behind the defence, round Simon Mignolet and give his team the early advantage.

Things went from bad to worse for both Lovren and Liverpool just seven minutes later, as a missed header well up the pitch allowed Kane once again to run at the Liverpool defence virtually unimpeded, before squaring it for Son to finish it off and give Jurgen Klopp’s side a mountain to climb.

It was nearly three moments later when Son struck the bar, but Liverpool’s shocking start has left many on social media feeling bemused if not surprised – with a certain Croatian defender feeling most of the heat:

Mohamed Salah has since cut the deficit and given Liverpool a way back into the match but, at the time of writing, it remains 2-1 to Tottenham at Wembley. For Lovren, meanwhile, his performance was so bad that he was replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after just half an hour.
