Ireland’s Daryl Murphy has found the back of the Moldovan net twice inside 20 minutes.
Knowing they need to win both games this week following Wales’ win away to Georgia earlier in the evening settling the nerves early was essential, and that’s exactly what Ireland have done through Murphy.
The first of his strikes followed a long Stephen Ward throw-in, when the ball was contested in the box only for it to fall to the Nottingham Forest man who duly slotted home from inside the six-yard box.
The second came from a lofted cross into the box from Ward with the former Waterford man rising highest to convert.
