With freezing weather conditions preventing countless Arsenal fans from travelling to the Emirates on Thursday night, Arsene Wenger would surely have been hoping for a warm reception from those who were able to attend.
However, having been heavily defeated in the League Cup final by Manchester City last weekend, Arsenal now find themselves trailing by a familiar scoreline to the very same opponents.
Although the Gunners were somewhat impressive during opening exchanges, it was City who eventually took the lead after Bernardo Silva curled a beautifully placed effort into the top corner.
Shortly after, David Silva doubled their lead with a well-taken finish before Leroy Sane trundled the ball home following a wonderful counter-attack that found the German unmarked in the box.
Arsenal fans have been turning on their long-serving manager for several years at this point, however, given their current form, it seems that the ‘Wenger Out’ brigade have finally had enough.
Each City goal was received with a chorus of boos at the Emirates and, as the halftime whistle blew, the supporters once again let their feelings be known.
