Six days ago, young French striker Moussa Dembele came off the bench to score a hat-trick in just 24 minutes for Celtic away to St. Johnstone. On Saturday afternoon he made it back-to-back trebles with three goals in 14 minutes against Inverness in the Scottish FA Cup.
Chelsea were reportedly interested in signing the 20-year-old in January, and it’s easy to see why they were so keen. He possesses pace and power, which has many touting him as a future great of the game. He’s also in a rich vein of goalscoring form, having netted 26 goals in 40 appearances for Celtic this season.
His hat-trick against St. Johnstone last week was made even more remarkable as he only came on two minutes before his first goal.
He went on to net twice more as the Hoops won 5-2 to preserve their 27-point lead at the top of the SPL.
Here’s last weekend’s edition:
In Saturday’s cup tie, Celtic had a narrow 1-0 lead heading into the break. That was until Dembele doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time.
He came out in the second-half with more goals in mind, and duly delivered as he made it 3-0 five minutes after the restart.
Nine minutes later, the Frenchman had his second hat-trick in the space of a week as he headed home a perfectly timed cross from James Forrest.
Watch his other two strikes below:
Dembele was taken off in the 82nd minute and Celtic went on to win the game 6-0, but all the talk on Twitter was of the brilliant striker.
