Video: Everton Strung Together Just The 28 Passes To Score vs Middlesbrough

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is a man known for possession-based play so this goal from his side must make all those nights spent tinkering with his team worth it.

The Toffees would have been expected to get one or two past their inferior opponents before kick-off, and that’s just what they did, winning 2-0 last night, however the way in which Romelu Lukaku’s goal was scored will be especially pleasing to the manager.

Starting literally on the edge of their own area, the ball is beautifully worked from defence to midfield before a delightful piece of skill from Gerard Deulofeu leads to the ex-Barcelona man whipping in an inch-perfect cross for the Belgium international to latch on to.

You may have seen Deulofeu’s brilliant piece of skill and his goal which preceded Lukaku’s already, but the build up deserves a special mention too (watch below).

Everton are now one of the four remaining teams competing for this season’s League Cup after their win away to Middlesbrough.
