It’s one of the foundations of Barcelona’s style of play and has been an integral part of their training for years now, but the rondo can still be one of football’s truly spellbinding sights.
During a recovery session today following Barca’s 3-1 victory over Eibar on Sunday the camera just about picked up a special rendition of the classic training drill. The rondo was used to put Barca’s players though their paces in the build up to this Wednesday’s game away to Villanovense in Barca’s opening match of their Copa del Rey defence.
What makes the footage below more frightening than anything is that Luis Suarez is in the middle, and even a player of his speed finds it difficult to win the ball back from Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique and co.

This type of training is clearly still working wonders for the Catalan giants, who are currently second in La Liga only on goal difference to their biggest rivals, Real Madrid.
It’s obviously working in the Champions League too, as Barca are top of their group at present, three points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen at the halfway stage of the group phase.
