Video: Arsenal Boss Believes Costa ‘Should Have Been Sent Off’ Twice

Arsenal lost 2-0 to Chelsea this afternoon in one of the more controversial games between the two clubs.

It’s well documented by now that the relationship between the two team’s managers is far from healthy but that kind of bitterness appeared to translate to the pitch today also.

This said, one player in particular has been singled out as the instigator of the majority of controversial moments, which in many ways defined the game.

That man was Diego Costa. The Spain international is well known for his ability to rile up opposing defenders but today that appeared to go to a different level.

Just before half time a series of clashes between the 26-year-old and Laurent Koscielny garnered the attention of referee Mike Dean, who failed to witness Costa swinging his arm into the face of the Arsenal defender.

The two subsequently squared up to each other, with Koscielny falling to the floor after both players bumped chests, before Gabriel got involved and was subsequently sent off for what seemed to be a kick, if the gesture from referee Dean was anything to go by (watch below).

Following a game packed full of incident, with Santi Cazorla also seeing red, Wenger gave his views to BT Sport on one of the more controversial days he’s had at the office.

This result moves Chelsea up to tenth in the league with seven points having won only their second match of the season.

Arsenal have now lost two matches on the bounce, if you include the Gunners’ mid-week Champions League defeat at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb.

This result will have angered Wenger certainly, but it is clear some of the refereeing decisions today have irked the Arsenal boss considerably also.
