The story was first broke by L’Equipe on Tuesday as the highly regarded French publication announced that, despite the fact that Monaco had agreed to a £13m deal for Sidibé, complications arose allowing Arsenal to swoop in with a late offer.
The 23-year-old is very highly rated and was on the stand-by list for France’s Euro 2016 squad. Capable of playing on both the right and left flank, the versatile defender would undoubtedly prove to be a huge asset for Arsenal’s squad next season.
Following on from l’Equipe’s initial report yesterday, the ultra reliable Gianluca Di Marzio reported this morning that Sidibé is now set to join Arsenal.
Di Marzio claims that although the 23-year-old seemed certain to join Monaco, the Lille full back is now close to finalising a deal that will take him to Arsenal.
Wenger and Arsenal have stepped up their interest for Sidibè and are now close to getting him. The defender seemed destined to be heading towards Monaco but his future now seems to be in London. Like Guglielmo Cannavale reported for Sky Sport, a deal is close to being finalized with Arsenal. From Lille to Arsenal, Sidibè’s future is now clearer…. – Gianluca Di Marzio
With the signings of Granit Xhaka and Takuma Asano already confirmed, it now seems like a matter of time before Arsenal confirm their third signing of the summer.
