Twitter On Top Form As Vincent Janssen Finally Manages A League Goal From Open Play

Vincent Janssen arrived from AZ Alkmaar in the summer with much expected of him but despite flashes of good play, the Dutchman has struggled at the Lane.

He only managed to find the net a handful of times for Spurs, all of which came from the penalty spot. He did score from open play in a 6-0 drubbing of Millwall in the FA Cup but before today had not registered a solitary goal not from a dead ball situation in the league.

Tottenham took on Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth in the first game of the weekend and it was never really a contest in truth with first half goals from Moussa Dembele and Heung-min Son killing off the game. Harry Kane made it three shortly after half-time and Spurs took their foot off the gas as they cruised to another win.

The icing on the cake came in the final minutes with Janssen smashing home on the second attempt to shake off that unwanted tag so often levelled at him.
