Twitter Reacts As Portugal Beat Wales To Reach Euro 2016 Final

Portugal's forward Cristiano Ronaldo (R) comforts Wales' forward Gareth Bale at the end of the Euro 2016 semi-final football match between Portugal and Wales at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais stadium in Décines-Charpieu, near Lyon, on July 6, 2016.

Wales’ Euro 2016 hopes were dashed on Wednesday night as Portugal finally remembered how to win a game in 90 minutes, setting up a final clash with either Germany or hosts France on Sunday.

This match proved to be a step too far for Chris Coleman’s side – a quickfire double from Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani early in the second half proved to be decisive after an extremely cagey first half.

Nonetheless, Ronaldo and co. head to Paris on Sunday, while Wales depart their first ever European Championship with their heads held high but with a tinge of disappointment.

Twitter paid tribute to what has a very good effort by Wales in this tournament, and reacted to the overall proceedings this evening.

Of course, there had to be a winner. Portugal will be desperate to make up for the disappointment of twelve years ago and win the European Championship trophy for the first time in their history.
