Manchester United looked to have secured all three points against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday night, but a late, late strike from unlikely hero Harry Maguire rescued a point for the home side.

Leicester opened the scoring on 27 minutes, as Jamie Vardy netted his 50th Premier League goal for the club. A Wilfred Ndidi clearance sailed long and high before landing at the feet of a breaking Riyad Mahrez, who showed tremendous composure, holding up the ball until support came bounding in and subsequently playing Vardy through on goal. The 30-year-old striker finished with aplomb.

It wasn’t long before United were back on level terms, however, with Jesse Lingard setting up Juan Mata for the equalizer just five minutes before the break.

With 60 minutes gone, Mata once again played the villain to the majority at the King Power, firing the visitors in front with a beautiful free-kick.

Things got even worse for the Foxes on 73 minutes, as Daniel Amartey was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

In the 94th minute, however, Maguire got on the end of a Marc Albrighton cross and found the net to make it 2-2 with the last kick of the match.

Failing to take full advantage of their game in hand and undoubtedly ruing some missed opportunities, United are now 13 points behind their sky blue city rivals and Premier League leaders Manchester City in second place. Leicester sit in 8th place with 27 points, a single point ahead of Everton in 9th but five points adrift of Burnley in 7th.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the result…
