Twitter Goes Nuts As Manchester United Unveil “New Signing”

With Paul Pogba edging ever closer to joining Manchester United, fans are on tenterhooks, impatiently awaiting the big announcement.

This morning, the club took to Twitter to announce they had completed a big signing.

No, it wasn’t the much-anticipated acquisition of Pogba on a world record fee, instantly making United a top class side and favourites for the title. It was Richard Branson holding up a number seven jersey after Virgin Money became the club’s official “UK Retail Financial Services Partner”…whatever that means.

Unsurprisingly, the news didn’t go down very well.

Supporters across social media had plenty to say about the new arrival.

The announcement is the latest in a long string of commercial deals completed by United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward. His failures in transfer negotiations have been well documented – and rightly so – but credit where it’s due, the man knows how to secure a financial deal.
