The unbelievable record the Premier League teams enjoyed in the Champions League this season came to a crashing halt at Wembley this Wednesday night as Juventus came from behind to beat Spurs 2-1.
Two goals in three minutes from Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala saw the Italians overcome a half-time deficit after Son had opened the scoring.
The Turin outfit join Real Madrid and Liverpool in the last eight as the pair progressed on Tuesday night – as well as Manchester City who also reached the quarter-final on Wednesday.
The performance of Higuain in particular over the two legs caught the eye of many:
No matter what happens, Higuain with three goals and one assist in this two legged affair against Spurs. Goes against the lazy narrative of people who watch him 3 times a year. He’s brilliant.

Oh hey, I forgot to ask. How long do we get to stop pretending that Higuain doesn’t play well in big matches for this time?

Higuain has his own gravitational pull and Spurs still couldn't get near him to stop that pass to Dybala.

Unfortunately, social media users weren’t so kind to Spurs:
Spurs doing what they do best. Bottle jobs

Nothing better after a long, frustrating day at work thancoming home and watching Spurs bottle it

Dembele deserves better than Spurs… He deserves winner's medals in his life…

Funny how everyone raves about spurs when they always choke at the end

Still wondering how Spurs bottled the lead
