Chelsea resumed their impressive dominance in the league following their defeat at Spurs with a convincing victory over the champions.
With Diego Costa not with the squad after a supposed row with Antonio Conte culminating in the Italian barking “Go to China!”, it wasn’t the best of news cycles for the London side. Prior to kick-off, the former Juve boss tried to dispute the reports, claiming Costa was merely nursing a back injury.
The striker’s absence was barely noticed as the Blues ran out 3-0 winners with Marcus Alonso popping up with an unexpected brace before Pedro rounded off the win with a lovely goal.
Twitter was in fine form as the game unfolded.

5 – Chelsea have scored five goals in the opening 10 minutes of Premier League action so far this season – a league high total. Traps.

Alonso inches away from a hat-trick. Jesus Christ, stop the world. I want to get off.

FT: Leicester 0-3 Chelsea. Blues cast-off those Chinese whispers. Alonso (2) and Pedro made it look easy. Seven-point lead restored.

I really wish that Alonso volley had gone in. I just wanted to tell me kids I watched Marcos Alonso score a hat trick away at the champions

It was a crucial three points for the league leaders with Liverpool and Manchester City facing tough fixtures tomorrow. They quickly shut down talk of a slip after the loss at White Hart Lane and have made sure it was little more than a blot on an otherwise flawless copybook.
