Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino’s first raid on former club Southampton may have to wait a bit longer, despite how close the deal is to completion.

News broke in the past 24 hours that Tottenham had agreed a fee, believed to be in the region of £11m, with Southampton for midfielder Victor Wanyama, with a medical due to take place imminently.

However, the uncertainty surrounding Southampton’s managerial situation is likely to hold the deal up for several days at least, according to a series of tweets from Press Association journalist Simon Peach.

Peach was also able to shed some light on the complexities of the deal, outlining that he believed the £11m fee contained £2m worth of clauses on top of a £9m guarantee.

Helpfully, Peach also provided an update on Southampton’s search for a new manager. The Saints were dealt a massive blow last week when they lost previous boss Ronald Koeman to Everton, but have been linked with a number of stellar names across Europe to fill the vacant position in the St. Marys dugout.

Barring any late complications, the highly-rated 24 year old will be a Tottenham player by next week at the very latest.
