Tottenham prepare for the second leg of their Champions League clash against Juventus, and have been handed some very encouraging news that Gonzalo Higuain may not feature for Juventus in the tie.

Gonzalo Higuain has without doubt, been a major influence in the Juventus side since signing from Napoli in 2016, he has so far scored twenty goals this season across all competitions and was influential in the Old Lady of Turin reaching the final last season, but Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is hoping that the Argentine forward will be fit for their Serie A clash with Lazio on the weekend.

“Higuain is not available right now. He hasn’t trained for a few days and we’ll see if he is available on Sunday”

Juventus are also accessing the hamstring injury of Juventus’ other Argentine star Paulo Dybala, who was a doubt for the Tottenham clash and is not included in Argentinas squad for their friendlies ahead of the World Cup, but according to sources in Football Italia he will be fit to face Lazio on the weekend.

The tie currently stands at 2-2, despite after the first ten minutes, the Italian giants found themselves 2-0 up thanks to a brace from Gonzalo Higuain, before Tottenham pulled it back to 2-2 courtesy of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen. While many criticised Juventus’ performance by not holding on to the 2-0 lead, Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic hit out at critics as he claimed they didn’t know just how good Tottenham are, as he told Premium Sport:

“They’re a quality team, so maybe those who criticised didn’t know Tottenham

“We should have managed the game better at 2-0 but its not over. We believe in ourselves and obviously we want to go through”

However, Tottenham aren’t without their struggles either, with Jan Vertonghen picking up an injury in training before their 1-0 win against Crystal Palace, and Toby Alderweireld still out with a hamstring injury and will not be back in time for the second leg tie.
