Watch: The Demolition Of White Hart Lane Is Well Underway Already

Tottenham played their final game at their 118-year-old stadium yesterday, beating Manchester United 2-1 to secure second place in the league after Chelsea were confirmed champions with a victory over West Brom on Friday night.

White Hart Lane was a special venue for all Spurs fans which was depicted with the outcry of emotion all throughout yesterday’s swan song. The event was dubbed #TheLaneTheFinale and thousands upon thousands of fitting tributes were paid to the famous venue on all forms of social media.

Club chairman, Daniel Levy, has been working on the project of a new stadium dating back a number of years and his plans are finally coming to fruition. Spurs will play their home league games next season at Wembley with the view to moving into their new home for the 2018/19 season.

The new stadium is set to hold over 61,000 fans at capacity and will be built on the same plot of land that ‘The Lane’ lay for over a century. Levy views the move into a new state of the art stadium as a key factor in Tottenham becoming more competitive with the top side’s in the Premier League in the transfer market, attracting the biggest names in world football to join the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli in the pursuit of that illustrious league title.

Kane scored the winner in yesterday’s fixture in what proved to be the final Spurs goal scored on the hallowed turf.

The club have wasted absolutely no time in tearing down the stadium after yesterday’s emotional farewell ceremony. Only a matter of hours after the curtain being brought down on the old ground, the demolition job has begun.
