Nicolas Otamendi is determined to force through his move to Old Trafford and reports now suggest that he is willing to do what ever it takes to get the deal done.
Otamendi is widely regarded as one of the best central defenders in La Liga and after it was today confirmed that Sergio Ramos will be going absolutely no where, the Valencia man is now almost a ‘must have’ for United.
What is almost romantic about this move is how mutual the desire is from both potential parties. The Red Devils may be keen on the Argentine but it seems he is also dying to get to Manchester and is willing to resort to any means necessary to see the deal to completion.
Otamendi has made no secret of his desire to play under Louis van Gaal next season, however, their remains a massive obstacle in the form of a €50 million transfer fee that Valencia are apparently not budging on.
Reports have suggested that Ed Woodward is willing to go as high as €40m for the highly rated defender but he feels €50 is just a tad excessive.
Well, that’s that then… except that it isn’t.
The 27-year-old Argentine has now apparently informed Woodward that he would be willing to significantly lower his wage demands if that could potentially assist the club in getting the deal across the line.
According to Plaza Deportiva, Otamendi’s pay cut would amount to almost €10m over the course of his contract and may actually be enough to get the deal across the line.
