Top Journalist Makes Series Of Incredible Claims Regarding Manchester United Situation

A highly regarded British journalist has made a series of incredible claims relating to Louis van Gaal and the Manchester United managerial situation.

Aston Villa v Manchester United - Premier League

Paul Smith is a leading British football journalist and the chief football writer for tabloid newspaper The Sunday Mirror. He is a former British Sports Reporter of the Year and today, the award winning football writer has stated that there are a number of incredible events going on behind the scenes at Old Trafford.

With Louis van Gaal’s position clouded in uncertainty and United now having gone 7 games in a row without a win, Smith claims that the Dutch manager has offered to resign on two occasions in the past few weeks.

Somewhat bizarrely, on both occasions Ed Woodward has convinced the under-performing Manchester United manager to stay rather than accept his resignation.

Jose Mourinho

On top of this, Smith has also stated that, should Van Gaal leave, key figures at the club (believed to be Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton) are opposed to hiring Jose Mourinho and are pushing for Ryan Giggs to be given the top job.

Finally, Smith left his boldest claim for last as he tweeted that Sir Alex Ferguson would be willing to come in and support Giggs should the former United winger be instated as manager at Old Trafford.
