The number of bromances being produced at Manchester United is getting a little bit silly…
There seems to be something in the water at Manchester United that nurtures the biggest bromances in the footballing world. First, there was Ji Sung Park and Patrice Evra, who seemed to be so infatuated with one another that they couldn’t help but giggle every time the other said something.
The classic interview below captures the essence of the pairs outrageous bond as Evra comments on Ji Sung Park winning the player of the month award after the South Korean had just left on international duty. In the middle of the interview, Evra casually drifts into a rant about how much he misses his dear dear friend and things get a bit weird…
‘I miss him alot. I call him. I wish him all the best with his country but I want him to come back quick.’
Over the course of preseason, another budding bromance seemed to morph into full blown infatuation as Luke Shaw and Memphis Depay hit it off like two 16 year old’s on holiday.
In this slighty awkward interview, it was put to Depay and Shaw that their friendship had become so obvious that it was making headlines. The pair responded by shuffling awkwardly before, similarly to Park and Evra, repeatedly breaking down into fits of giggles .
David De Gea seems to be in the middle of a legitimately heart wrenching break up as he witnessed best bud Javier Hernandez shipped off to Bayer Leverkusen over the course of the summer.
Recently interviewed about a range of topics, David De Gea was casually asked how he thought his friend was doing in the Bundesliga… cue the biggest ‘my heart is shattered’ rant in the history of man.
We were always together and did everything together. He’s a really good friend of mine and nothing but a marvelous person. We went out to eat, played playstation. I went to his house, he came to mine. Our families get on very well. He’s a very good friend.
Poor old De Gea. Even typing that stung a little.
Now, the latest bromance to have emerged from the Old Trafford club seems to be between lovable Spanish duo, Ander Herrera and Juan Mata.
Of all the borderline sickening love affairs, this one is perhaps the most understandable as both Juan Mata and Ander Herrera seem to be so strikingly similar in looks and personality that they could have been separated at birth.
Today, on Juan Mata’s official YouTube channel, the former Chelsea man recruited his bestie for a game of two ball keepie uppie and… well, it’s arguably the cutest thing we’ve ever seen.
Whether there’s something in the water at Old Trafford or Cupid himself is flying around the training ground firing arrows in arses remains to be seen, but for the meantime, it seems to safe to say that Old Trafford is officially the home of the biggest bromances in the footballing world.
Having said that, no bromance article can be complete without giving honourable mention to David Alaba and Franck Ribery… these two will surely grow old together.
And to conclude, in case anyone is reading this wondering what in the hell is a ‘bromance’? Feel free to educate yourself below.
