All previous reports have suggested that it would be Londoners Chelsea that will do a deal for Barcelona’s nifty Spanish winger, Pedro. However, according to the always reliable Jamie Jackson of The Guardian, that is not the case.
All reports linking Manchester United with La Liga so far this summer have effectively circle around three names; David De Gea, Nicolas Otamendi and Sergio Ramos.
De Gea now looks set to stay at Old Trafford while the highly mooted transfer of Sergio Ramos is effectively dead in the water.
Otamendi still looks very likely with several reports now claiming that the Argentine centre back is trying to force through his move by even taking a massive pay cut to his wages.
However, there is still a potentially even bigger deal to be done in Spain for United as Ed Woodward will reportedly trigger Barcelona winger Pedro’s release clause of £22m.l
Jamie Jackson of The Guardian is in Seattle covering United’s pre-season tour and according to his reports;
“The Dutchman (Louis Van Gaal) wants to play 4-3-3 and Pedro’s versatility in being able to operate across the frontline is attractive.”
The news has suggested what many already suspected and it now indeed looks like Angel Di Maria is on the way out of Old Trafford with PSG looking like his likely destination.
Pedro should prove a top signing for United, who will so far remember him with disdain after he scored a fine opening goal against United in the 2011 Champions League final.
