Man United, Liverpool & Tottenham All Handed Tough Europa League Ties in Last 16 Draw

The road to Basel became a little less populated on Thursday night as 32 teams became 16 in the 2015/16 Europa League.

In terms of English interest, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United all progressed – with varying levels of comfort – to the second knockout stage by beating Augsburg, Fiorentina and Midtjylland respectively.

Their reward is a place in today’s draw, which has just concluded in Switzerland.

With no restrictions as to who could play each other, there was always the chance of some intriguing ties, and the draw didn’t disappoint in that regard.

The standout of the draw is undoubtedly the pairing of Liverpool and Manchester United, which can be summed up in one word…

The first leg of these ties will played on Thursday the 10th of March, with the return legs occurring one week later.
