Premier League clubs are on high alert after Neven Subotic announced via his Facebook page his intention to leave Borussia Dortmund after 8 years.
The Serb has been a magnificent servant for Die Borussen, but injuries have wreaked havoc upon Subotic’s involvement in the starting XI, with a case of thrombosis in his arm ruling him out of Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the closing period of the last campaign.
Taken from his official Facebook page, Subotic outlined his reasons for wanting to depart.
Football is an important building block of my life, I very much love and without I don’t want to be.
I’m just in the best footballers age and, of course, want to use this time to me and my club every day to bring forward. And the feeling to have on the place to be needed, all for my club to be able to give.I hope you can understand that and understand.
Bvb is my heart club and will always remain so.
Your Neven

Of course, Subotic could very well link up with his former manager in Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool, and the 27-year-old spoke to transfermarkt.de about his desire to play in the Premier League only a couple of months ago.
“I’ve got to be honest and say that the English Premier League is very suitable for my way of playing football,” he said. “The intensity and the physical nature of the game are very attractive for me.
“I’m a passionate footballer and I want to be playing, and I want to be successful.”
Subotic is contracted at the Westfalenstadion until 2018, but after today’s announcement, Klopp and other Premier League managers would be foolish not to pounce on the centre-back’s availability.
