It looks like Manchester United may have pulled off a major coup in signing Nemaja Matic.
On Monday afternoon, Manchester United officially announced the signing of Nemanja Matic from the reigning Premier League champions Chelsea.

Although the Serbian was a stalwart in Chelsea’s title charge last season, some United fans were a little unimpressed with the acquisition of Matic believing Mourinho was simply settling for Antonio Conte’s seconds.
However, when one looks at the stats behind Matic’s performances since he arrived in the Premier League, then that couldn’t be further from the truth.
When it comes to defensive talents plying their trade in England, no midfielder gets more credit than Matic’s midfield partner last season, Ngolo Kante.
Kante is now viewed as a class above the rest when it comes to breaking up the opponent’s play and instantly turning defence into attack. However, when one looks at the numbers, Matic is a seriously undervalued star.

Since arriving in the Premier League in 2014, no midfielder has made more tackles and interceptions combined than the Serbian and, with transfer fees hitting dizzying heights with increasing frequency of late, the £35m (+ £5m in add ons) United have paid for the 29-year-old looks like an absolute bargain.
