Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has rubbished claims made by the Daily Mail that Arsenal are in talks with Atletico Madrid to sign their star centre-back Jose Giminez.
The Mail’s Adam Crafton had tweeted on Wednesday that the London outfit were in talks with Diego Simeone’s side over a possible deal to bring the Uruguayan to the Emirates.

Such is the renown of Giminez’s quality that the news understandably excited Arsenal fans, but alas, it was not meant to be.
Mundo Deportivo’s report came out today dismissing the move altogether.
They have also reported that Atletico absolutely refuse to negotiate with any club over a potential transfer for the 21-year-old, who is one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe after his performances for Los Rojiblancos.
The La Liga giants have already turned down an approach from bitter rivals Real Madrid for Giminez’s signature over a month ago, as per the same report.
Arsenal fans are enduring one of the most frustrating transfer windows in recent memory, with no high profile signing made by Arsene Wenger since Granit Xhaka’s arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach on May 25th.
Takuma Asano and Rob Holding have been the sole players to follow Xhaka to the Emirates, with the end of the window looming at the end of August.
The Gunners travel to the King Power on Saturday evening to face defending Premier League champions Leicester in what is already a crunch clash with only a single game gone of the season.
