Barcelona have been suspiciously quiet in the transfer window thus far but seemed to have now identified Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho as their top target.
The Brazilian attacker starred once again last season as the Reds qualified for the Champions League thanks to a fourth place finish. La Blaugrana’s new boss Ernesto Valverde is clearly an admirer of the 25-year-old and he has been linked, almost incessantly this month, with a switch to the Camp Nou.
There was a flurry of reports yesterday evening that the player had agreed personal terms with Coutinho and Sky Sports have now added to supporters’ misery.
They are this afternoon claiming that confidence is quickly growing in the Barca camp that they will get their man as they believe the Merseyside club will find it very difficult to turn down a €100 million bid.
Furthermore, they insist the player, being Brazilian, would relish a move to Catalonia considering the club’s history with his compatriots. If Neymar completes his world record move to PSG, it will become even more likely, Sky claim, that Valverde will welcome Coutinho to his new club.
The Spanish giants are currently on a pre-season tour of the United States where they’ve already faced Juventus and tonight will take on Manchester United.
